Dental Hygiene Program Overview

Program Overview :

The Dental Hygiene program at Yorkville College ensures that our students upon graduation will be prepared to perform dental hygiene services as part of a select member of this regulated profession. The students of this program will learn to apply the dental hygiene process of care model, comprising of: assessment, dental hygiene diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Included in the program are real-life clinical experiences to complement the academic theoretical portion of the program.

Yorkville College will ensure that our educational program in Dental Hygiene produces practitioners that meet all of the current practice trends and standards set out by the Commission on Dental Accreditation Canada, the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario, the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association and Ontario’s Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. An important part of this program is practicing ethics and jurisprudence, and for the student to become familiar with the regulating bodies, the licensing agencies, dental products, and dental techniques.
